Hand thrown in her studio in Arles, these butter keepers are a collaboration between contemporary ceramicist Cécile Cayrol and Maison de l’Escargot.
This butter keeper is based on a classic french object for keeping butter preserved at room temperature, meaning the butter does not need to be kept in the fridge and remains spreadable.
The internal container or lid is filled with softened butter, whilst the external container is partially filled with water. The water then creates a fresh seal for the butter when the lid is replaced.
Whilst they have a strong, contemporary feel, this is offset by the raw texture of the heavily grogged red clay with a beautiful hand glazed interior.
